The study goal is the comprehensively educated instrumental teacher or music dramatist who possesses a variety of qualifications of an artistic as well as methodological-didactic nature and – in the sense of professional mediation – also of a scientific nature, adapted to the professional reality.
Through professional field orientation and professionalization, students acquire competencies that enable them to meet the various requirements of the professional profile of a musician and music educator beyond their artistic work. This includes knowledge and skills regarding subject-related learning, teaching and practicing processes as well as the ability to reflect on one's own resources, ranging from the prevention of musician-specific physical damage to strategies for self-promotion. Furthermore, basic skills in vocal technique and piano playing serve the musician in the exercise of his/her profession, whether in the independent acquisition of literature or as an accompaniment in his/her own teaching activities. As a basis for the intended practice of the profession of music teacher serve musical qualifications, building on professional mastery of the main instrument, stylistic confidence in the various genres, improvisational versatility, enthusiasm and openness to music of other cultures. In addition to the professional competence to be achieved on the instrument, students are guided by their individual talents and with regard to a high degree of communication skills and social competence.
